Update on Mask Requirement in K-12 Schools

On April 19, 2021, Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services rescinded orders that direct K-12 schools to require masks.  Please know that Continental Elementary School District will continue to follow the health and safety recommendations set forth by the CDC which include universal masking in schools to ensure safe learning environments.

Thank you for helping Continental Elementary School District remain a safe and healthy learning environment for all.

Sincerely,

Roxana Rico, Superintendent

Update on Mask Requirement in K-12 Schools

We wanted to share information we received from the Arizona Department of Health Services today in light of Governor Ducey's executive order relaxing COVID-19 restrictions. AZDHS Emergency Measure 2020-04 is still in effect, requiring masks in all K-12 schools. Masking is one of the top mitigation strategies for safe in-person learning as recommended by the CDC.

Masks must be worn on school campuses, on school buses and during school-associated activities by all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors.

Thank you,

Arizona Department of Education

November 30, 2020

As you all know we have a new Pima county Mask Mandate, which we are going to follow and reinforce.

Arizona  Statewide order: No

Masks are required for employees and customers of barbers and cosmetologists. They are recommended in other circumstances. Several cities and counties have full mask orders in place, including Maricopa County, home to Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe, and Pima County, which includes Tucson.--

At this time, we are going to require that students wear masks while at their desks, even though they are 6 ft. apart.  Please explain to the students that we are trying really hard to keep everyone safe and in school as long as possible.

We need to get through the next three weeks.

If you can also emphasize the importance of trying to stay close to home and not interacting with too many people during the evenings and weekends this will help tremendously.

Also, PLEASE do not come to school if you are feeling sick- we can not emphasize this enough.

The next two weeks will be critical in determining the next steps for the 2nd semester.

Hello Colt Families,

I wanted to first and foremost thank you for your patience and support during these trying times.

I also hope you have all had a good week.

This evening we are asking that you please log into our website to review and sign the waiver that our Trust has provided to all schools in order to mitigate liability for Continental during this pandemic.  We understand that you may have many questions and we will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding this waiver or questions regarding the reopening of school in general.   For this purpose, we will be hosting a virtual zoom meeting on Thursday, August 27 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.  Join Zoom Meeting at

A link to this meeting will be on our website as well.  All information is under the Return to School 2020-2021 Tab.

Thank you.

COVID-19 Update August 24, 2020

Good Evening Colt Families,

I would like to thank those of you who filled out Waiver forms as we start to finalize our reopening of school plans. As a second option, we are asking that our parents please consider signing the Parental Acknowledgement and Disclosure forms.  Again, our District Trust/Insurance company is advising that school districts do their due diligence to obtain signed Waivers or Acknowledgement forms in order to reduce mitigation in our district.  These signed waivers will help us to ensure that all stakeholders are doing their part in following the COVID-19 health and safety procedures that are in place in our COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan) that is on our website.  Together we can ensure a safe and healthy return to school.  If you have any questions or concerns about the Waiver/Acknowledgement forms or reopening of school in general please join our Zoom Mtg. on Thursday August 27, 2020, at 4:40 p.m.

Thank you all in advance for your continued support and cooperation in helping us get back to school as soon as possible.

Ms. Rico

During these difficult and uncertain times, we will also continue to strive to create diverse, culturally competent educators and staff who will provide the necessary services for students to overcome the trauma of COVID-19 and the racial inequities that have surfaced in the last months.  We will be mindful of the social and emotional needs of our students, staff, parents, and community as a whole.

Our continued priority will be to ensure that our students feel safe, valued, and supported in our school. We will stick together and continue to be the cohesive Continental Colt family that we are.  BETTER TOGETHER!
