Building for the Future: Learning, Cooperating and Caring

Meet our Board President

Steve and his wife (Trina) and son moved from Maryland to Green Valley 18 years ago to be closer to family.  His son Jackson is a Continental graduate where he started in kindergarten.  Steve’s daughter Zoe is following Jackson and will graduate Continental this year.  Steve’s wife of 22 years - Trina is a successful local Real Estate Agent.

He has a B.S from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Management Information Systems and Accounting.   After college he began in the software business where he stayed for many years.  Steve later moved into residential mortgages, and he now runs a mortgage branch here in Green Valley.

Steve began his relationship with Continental back in 2006 where he was asked to be on the Continental School Educational Foundation Board, he’s still a member today.  He joined the Continental Governing Board six years ago and is currently serving as the Board’s President.  He has four years left on his current term.

Steve firmly believes in the Continental Way – “THIS IS US”.  He’s helping Continental in the area’s to ensure Academic Rigor and Excellence, Safe and Orderly Learning Environment and to help Continental maintain its Financial Strength.  He always says, “once a Colt aways a Colt”.

Kelley moved to the Green Valley area in 2006.While building her career in the financial industry, her two older kids were growing up as Colts. By the time her now 2nd grader was ready to start kindergarten, she was a veteran Colts Parent.

When she's not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys cheering her kids on in soccer, and watching them develop their skills in the fine arts. She can often be found out camping or cuddling up with one of her 3 dogs.

Her interest in being on the school board developed while she was hard at work as a single mom. Being a governing School Board member is a good use of her skills as a way to give back to the school that has given her children so much.

Message from the Superintendent

Dear Continental Colts, Families and Community Members,

It is hard to believe that we are reaching the end of our first semester.  It is with great enthusiasm that I share this exciting news, CONTINENTAL is now an “A” school.   We have all worked very hard and everyone is to be congratulated and commended for staying the course during and after COVID.  We will all continue to work diligently to ensure we maintain and increase student achievement in order to keep our “A” letter grade next year.

We also will continue to stay focused on hiring and retaining qualified staff, ensure quality curriculum and a safe, respectful and orderly environment in order for ALL of our students to reach their highest potential.

We will also continue to follow our MISSION and VISION Statements:  Continental School District will provide a community environment in which all individuals are challenged to achieve excellence in academics, character, and life skills.

Building for the Future - Learning, Cooperating, and Caring for all.

Our theme for this year is “THIS IS US”!  We are so proud of the students and families that we serve and I look forward to our continued journey of excellence TOGETHER!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Roxana Rico

Your Very Proud Superintendent
